Question need knowledge!!!!!! dana 30 gear/lock/spline

ok so im running a ford 8.8 rear axle. 3.73 gears. i need to hook up my front with a re gear. i need to budget my money. do i upgrade the dana 30? ill probably run 33's for a few years on it then move to 36's. i found a set up for about $1500 air locked and re-gear at...

no hub locks though. if i did hub locks would that make the stock 27 spline axle with an aussie locker stronger then the 30 spline air locked no hub locks, because it would be cheaper... or possiblly hub lock the 30 spline air lock? i dont need breaks or bearings on the outside. they are all set up. mooge and monrow. im down for the ten year plan. hopefully ill stroke the inline 6 for the last upgrade and when i move up to bigger tires ill get an atlis 2 t case. i just wanna wheel again guys. can someone help me out. i hate the internet so get at me if this doesnt make sence. im only 20 and im broke. this is a dedicated machine. i need help mentally maybe, i didnt understand just empty every poket the first time i heard it. someone please say something that helps!!!

umm.....just empty every pocket, and then go check the laundry and make sure you didn't forget any pockets in there

oh...this might help, who's doing the labor on that 1500 dollar kit? cuz that can easily be anywhere from 400 to a thousand more

does it come with the bearing master install kit?

i think your best bet may be to try to find a tj d30 front with 3.73 in it sell your stock dana 30 and maybe run a lockright

Hubs really have nothing to do with how strong your axle shafts are.. Think of them as a fuse. You want them to blow up before the shaft does.

the 30 spline shafts are better than the 27 hands down. However, with those you now have to look at what your next weak link will be. In this case, the u-joint and the ring gears in the 30. Perhaps look into a HP 30 from a 1993 1999 XJ for add strength.

Also one other thing to consider with the 30 spline shafts, if you do brake one on the trail and don't have a spare, will others?

If I where doing the super 30 kit I would get the XJ 30 or look into a used rubicon 44 front.

thanks for the advice guys. i think i might just run the re gear with an aussie and be mellow on the gas.... i'd rather upgrade all together then dump money into that junk. and no one would have a 30 spline in the trail haha. good lookin out
