Question Need some Help on my 2000 Wrangler

Any help would be appreciated. I have a 2000 Wrangler 4.0 Two weeks ago it started running ruff at times and stalled a few times as well. No engine codes, but did notice my fuel guage was either acting funny or all of a suddem my fuel mileage went to heck in a handbasket. The fuel guage issues is intermttent as well, but I could actually watch it move as I drove. I read several forums..appears that the crankshaft sensor was the way to go. I replaced. Now the jeep sems to run more running ruff or stalling, however. all of a sudden the gas guage is doing the same thing again..either faulty guage or horrid fuel mileage..again intermittent....And now I'm getting the check engine light to flash and come on...Stopping this evening to check on the codes...So two things..first the engine check light and I'll check the codes..but this fuel guage thing has be baffled somewhat?? I mean could something go that wrong in the engine to drop your fuel mileage like that??? and still run OK??? or should I be leaning more towards the sending unit?? again any comments or suggestions...

Have you ever had the error message "no bus" appear?

I am wondering if it is an electrical short in the wiring in the dash or in the data cable running into the dashboard from the computer.

Thanks for your reply...initially I did have that same thought..maybe all of this was being caused by bad gas..BUT this happened over a two to three week period..and was intermittent..and several fill ups at different stations more or less eliminated that..Plus after the crankcase sensor was never has stalled or ran bad...just this intermittent gas guage or horrid fuel mileage thing.. and the check engine light now...I just can't figure out id they are related or checking the codes tonight for the engine light..but still scratching my head on this fuel guage thing..Again thanks for your response

Few things to check off the top of my head....
Connection for fuel pump located at rear of tank, some times these wires pull out and cause issues, not only with fuel pump but gas gauage as well.

The fuel filter itself, though that is in the tank and harder to get to.

How do your plugs look?

Also make sure the wire's are pushed in tight behind the dash.
