New battery Starter and starter relay and still won't start. Any ideas

(1997 4.0 auto) My jeep was sitting for about 2 weeks, I tried starting but it woundn't turn over. Every time I let go of the key it woud stop trying to turn over completelly. I found myself holding the key in the run position almost forcing it to run or turn over. Eventually, after about a half hour it turned over. I let it run for a while, & it was good, but never drove it. I tried a few days later and got nothing. Just some clicking by the starter relay box but not even a click to the starter. I replaced the battery, starter, and starter relay...and still got nothing. ANY IDEAS???
Not sure if it could be the ignition coil? or what? Please send help

alarm system?
do you have to hold the key to run the car, or it will cut off all systems?
will the key bounce back towards you when you let go, and the jeep will shut down?
it may be your key port, or some wiring in your steering column. pop off the dash and look for any shorted or fouled wiring. if you have access to a voltmeter, test the wires you see for voltage. if you have an alarm system, make sure it is disabled, and the emergency kill is not engaged, it may be trying to kill your systems.

I'm very confused by how you're describing your symptoms. When you release the key from the Start position, it goes to the Run position. It will not try to start unless you're holding the key in the Start position. When you let go of the key, the ignition switch's spring will turn the key from Start back to Run where it won't continue trying to start.

So what you're saying is it won't start even after you hold it in the Start position for a long time & the engine cranks (the starter motor is turning the engine) but it won't start, correct?

Have you used a wire brush on the inside of the battery connections and the battery posts to get them good & shiny clean? Is the battery connection TIGHT on the battery, tight enough that it won't twist if you try to turn it with your hand?
When you have a choice, buy American.
