New engine Hesitation

Got a question, anyone know what might be causing theese symptoms? I put a new 4cyl engine in my 97TJ, when I first started it up it was fine, now it takes just a bit longer to actually start, then it runs for about 30 second then sounds like it running on three cylinder, you give it gas it goes away an d runs fine after that. It only does it when it hasent been started for a couple hours or in the cold state. The fuel sat for about 6 month without a addidtive, but its been about six month of it running and still does it. Any help would be appreciated.

I could certainly see that a gummed up fuel injector or a leaking fuel injector would cause this problem. You could try to run some fuel injector cleaner through the engine, but if the injector is really bad, you might have to have it professionally cleaned or even replaced. The injectors themselves are fairly cheap so even if you replace all 4 it wouldn't be too bad. Before you go that route though, you should have someone check the fuel system pressure and see if it is specification for bleed down and overall system pressure. I'm also sure you've put new plugs, wires, cap / rotor already right? That's the first thing anyone should do for a general engine performance issue.

Could also be the idle motor or vacuum leak.
