New Front End?

My wife got into an accident last week, the fenders got all smashed up, no big deal on that, but the axle got pushed back about 2 inches, and the spot where the lower control arms mount to the axle got bent way out. There is no way to bend them back, or fix them, and they are used for alignments. A friend of mine told me that we might be able to weld on some new home made tabs for mounts, and buy adjustable control arms to help align. Does anyone know if this will work, or does anyone know where i can buy those stock mounts for a dana 30, or if i even can? Any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated.

you should be able to weld some new tabs on there but you could just throw in a new axle like a 44 with the tabs already on there

Are you talking the tabs on the axle or the frame? If you need either, I would just go to a junkyard for either. If you are not an experienced welder make sure that you have them professionally attached (suspension components are very important). I know currie ent. straightens housings but with as bad as the wreck seems, I don't know if you have frame problems too. If your frame is really tweaked you may be better off buying a replacement, than having it straightened. Just a few thoughts.

The frame is in good shape, and the axle is not bent, the only thing is the mounts on the axle are bent, and i need new ones. I found some online about 15 minutes after i started this thread, so i should be in good shape. Thanks for the help though.

Bingo, you answered your question right there. Replacement Lower Control Arm mounts will strengthen up a weak link on the TJ. Since they are almost paper thin (I've got one I can tell is starting to bend.) With the adjustable arms it will help get castor in the ballpark of stock for the amount of lift you have.

Just make sure they don't put to much heat on your axle, this happened to my rear dana 35, the bracket at the track arm bent on the axle. I took it to a local 4wheel drive shop and they bent the axle by putting lots of heat from the weld. That's ok gave me a reason to upgrade to a dana 44, Not cheap and also was good expieriance for me. Live and learn right?

Sorry to hear about the accident. Hopefully your wife is ok. That is a bummer. Also good that you found the replacement tabs.
