Hello everyone! My name is Ricky and I just acquired a 1998 Wrangler. It is a sport model, 4.0, 5spd, Gold uke: , It needs some love as the previous owner neglected it a bit. First off this jeep is in overall good condition, except the passenger rear control arm bracket ripped from the frame. I have since bought the replacement frame parts from autorust.com. I welded a piece of angle iron to the frame and the bracket so i could get it back to my house. Im just waiting for it to warm up so i can get out in the driveway and weld the new section of frame in there. Im bummed because i can't drive her around safely yet! Other than that the Motor runs strong, clutch and gearbox feel great. I have replaced a MAF sensor and it cleared up a check engine light. It currently has a hardtop on it, but looking to switch over to the smittybilt soft top. There are so many things I would like to do to this baby! Little lift, some tires, winch, and a nice stereo system! I just wanted to introduce myself to this forum and will be using this site on a daily basis. Any suggestions or advice would be great!! Thanks!!
Welcome to the forum and congrats on becoming a Jeep owner. The best advice I have for you is take your time and research how you want to make your new Jeep yours. From how it looks to how capable it is in whatever type of driving and wheeling you want to use it for. Enjoy
I gotta do some looking at more gold jeeps so I can get ideas. I've never owned anything gold lol. some of the interior trim is a little faded. Ive seen some threads on there where guys are repainting the trim with SEM paint. Any insight?
That bracket didn't rip from the frame, it fell off. Looks to me like a frame swap is gonna be your first project, there's nothin' left behind the mount far as I can see.
POR-15 the frame... Makes it look 20 times better underneath and helps make the frame last exponentially longer. Did it to my '99 and it looks flawless even after a few years.
Nice Jeep, have fun and keep posting about your mods, I am liking my 2004 more every time I drive it, drives and feels like a tank.
