Here is a side by side of the new LuK throwout bearing and carrier. It is on the right the one on the left is an autozone model the stealership installed 5 months ago. The ear broke off the cheap plastic casting that surround weak metal insides. It is nearly all plastic. The LuK seems to be of very high quality. The ears are made from stamped steel that should have no chance to snap off. It also appears everything contacting the bearing itself is metal. The center is a plastic material that is held in place securely by 4 folded steel tabs that connect the two metal halves with the plastic running the whole surface area. I like it a lot and obviously would rather have it than the broken pos next to it.

I think I would take that back to the shop that installed it. They might be able to get you some parts costs back from their supplier.

It was a Jeep Dealership that charged me $200 for an Autozone clutch they paid $100 for, they didn't have a Mopar one in stock. I went there because I was in the process of moving from Alaska to Missouri and living in an extended stay while house hunting. It was a horrible experience. I posted what happened on the local Jeep forum and others started posting horror story's. I want my bolt back they stole lol but it wont be worth the anger of talking to them or risk of hitting them. Heres a link to the thread in the local forum if you want to check it out. Thanks again for all your help in my repair!
