New stock 2000 sahara tj questions?

So finally got me jeep today. Stock 2000 sahara with air raid intake and flow master (only things not stock). I'm very limited on green to fix it up....got about $5k for upgrades. Questions are as follows: 2" OME lift with 31s (will I still have to upgrade the drivesahft and sye?) vs a 3" Teraflex with 32s? Will the extra bit if lift and tires make that much of a difference? It's gonna be a DD and weekend trailrider. Needs bumpers and winch and serious stereo upgrades too. Trying to fit all that in for 5k. If I go Teraflex and 32s I can't afford the stereo/speaker bar upgrades due to the drivehaft/sye upgrade needed. Just curious on the difference of both looks and versitality of a 2" Ome with only 31s vs the 3" Tera and 32s(as that doesnt come with shocks either). Any thoughts on the best way to make this jeep look good and 4x4 on some trails while keeping within my budget(5k)?

OME has a very good reputation. I have their suspension system + a 1.25" BL and have no issue running 33s (a motor mount to smooth out driveline angles is recommended though, otherwise you will probably need a tcase drop). You can purchase these in a bundle through DPG Offroad for some deep savings over buying them alacarte. I purchased the 'ultimate kit' which is about $1300 + shipping.

Then figure another 1500 or so for tires and wheels and you still have about 2 grand to play with for your stereo and bumpers.

Good bumpers will probably run you 300-500 (each). Personally I would wait on the winch and put the rest in the stereo, but that depends what you value more - a winch you might use a few times a year, or a stereo you will use everytime you get in the jeep. You might be able to get a cheapish winch and the stereo you want for whats left, but I bet that will be pushin it.

Below is my setup, with the kit I described above, only difference is I have since removed the tcase drop:

Whatever you decide, good luck, and welcome. Oh, and keep us posted!

Thanks. I guess my worry is having to shell out an extra $1k for a drive shaft/sye. You did not have to do that?

The DS and SYE should run around 500.00. Anyway, if you do a body lift/motor mount lift combo in conjunction with a small suspension lift you MAY (should) be able to get away without the DS/SYE. The motor mount lift will give you some correction in the rear driveshaft angle. OME is considered to be one of the better small lifts and best riding. Most everyone states the 2.5 inch also nets around 3" or a little more actual lift. This would be ideal for you to run 33" tires. 32" inch tires are sort of a bastard size and you should probably try to stick with 31s or 33s.

Usually a SYE isn't needed unless you go over 3". Of course each instance is different. OME is a very good lift, as already stated, and you should keep in mind that any open vehicle is going to be difficult to get a really great sound from stereo wise, and your system will be vulnerable to theft, so it doesn't make sense to spend a small fortune on a sound system for it.

K so far thinking the Ome with heavy springs, black rock wheels, 31x10.5 pro comp extreme A/T, Ome steering stabilizer. I'll need a transfer drop for that right? Any quick disco's good with that set up? Or anything else to make it ride good?

I wouldn't do the Heavy duty OME springs unless you are rockin a hard top, big bumper, winch and a bunch of armor to weigh it down. They are pretty stiff, and not the most comfortable ride unless you really need the help with weight.

Heavy springs might make for a rough DD'er but then again it's a jeep not a caddy. Disco's are good for allowing a lot more front in flex and not that expensive to get. It's a toss up sometimes if you need a T-case drop. All depends if you have drive line vibrations. I'm going to say no but someone ought to know better than me. Your not going with a huge lift so I'd think you could get away without it.

Lookin at winch and aftermarket bumper, hardtop in winter, possibly tire carrier and rack down the road.... So heavy springs? or the middle ones as I dont want to much lift and hear the heavy springs can get u near 3" on an OME.
