Jeepforum.com left a bad taste in my mouth so ill give it one more shot... have a 99 tj sahara 5 speed thats had an exhaust leak for ever since I can remember... I recently without researching purchased a borla header which according to everyone will crack any day now... anyways... I started surgery on the header and everything went surprisingly well untill first crank and it redlined on me immediately. I tore it back down immediately inspected the gasket and it appeard fine.. upon reinstalation I noticed the dowels that line up the intake! Still a bitch to line up the intake but once I got it all back together im around 1050 rpm idle previously was around 650. Jeepforum told me im an idiot for buying borla and told me to buy something else... im positive ilined the intake on the dowels correctly and that I inspected the gasket and it looked like it did when it was new.
-ac doesnt work
-tiny gauge vac line that hooks to the intake on the back side dry rotted and cracked at one of the T fittings around by the battery tray
Jeep forum sucks. I got banned there for a week! They told me " to think about what I've done" I posted a picture that they found offensive... Random. Anyway. You can get vac line at the part stores. Some have had luck wrapping it with electrical tape. Tell us more about the jeep, how many miles? Have you ever cleaned the throttle body? Are you familiar with sea foam, that stuff is like magic. Welcome to the forum. I like it here so much that I bought a membership.
That is the exact vac hose thats severed, I put my thumb over it but it doesnt seem to help the idle. Its at 156k never done a tb cleaner, and am very familiar with seafoam and havent had the chance to use it. My tranny is basically shot thanks to lack of maintenance via the PO grinds in most gears and usually cant get it into 1st. Ac doesnt work yet its hooked up blower motor doesnt have power to it cant find where its losing it andddd its 29 degrees and my back vynal window is broek
New update... the MIL is now on. Turned on as soon as I got into the driveway and put on the e brake.
MIL? whats that... My tranny was shitty too. I swapped in NV3550 tranny from 2000. It may be worth a try to change your tranny fluid. You have an ax15, you can run 10w-30 motor oil in the tranny or a synthetic. I would try REDLINE MT90 everyone says it helps smooth out there shifts, it did not work for me since mine was too far gone. Sounds like your synchros are gone, you can double clutch and try to match the RPm with your shift till you can remedy the situation.
Malfunction indication lamp, the fancy new name for the check engine light. Hopefully it will be able to tell me something causing the issue or at least get me pointed in the right direction... seeing as the header was the last thing done... all signs point to that. I guess i couldve damaged the gasket or missinstalled the intake a second time.
Anyways yeah my trannys way to far gone but I match rpms best I can sometimes the passenger can never tell..
If one of you vacuum fittings is NG then check them all, they may look ok visually but until you manipulate them there's no telling if they are good. The one on my intake manifold looked fine but practically crumbled in my hand. Make sure the surface of your block is good and clean and check the manifold and header with a straight edge to confirm they are laying flat.

Ok, so inquiring minds keep asking and messaging me about said funny/gross photo... I have blurred out the inappropriate areas... I apologize in advance if this offends anyone's eyes or weak stomachs. **Mods feel free to delete if you don't approve.!
