New to Forum Need Help

I new to the forum. I recently purchased a 2006 TJ. It's been running great. I haven't driven it for two days. I got in it this AM and it wouldn't start. It wouldn't even turn over. I have lights that show up on the dash board (fuel, etc) I didn't have time to investigate further. The radio would'nt turn on. I'm assuming the battery? I'm not mechanically inclined. It sounded like there was a buzz or humm when I turned the ignition to on to start it. (fuel pump engaging?) Any assistance would be appreciated.

What does your voltage gauge say? Is it way below the 12?

I would suggest checking the battery and giving it a good charge before you do anything else. No body knows how old it may be and they can do strange things when they get older. Once it is running you can check to see of the alternator is charging properly and if it is then I would suggest looking into the battery replacement.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a better look over when I get home. I have a feeling it's the battery too. It's my first Jeep. I can see it's going to be a money pit. Not just for maintenance, lots of cool stuff you can add.

Before assuming the battery is bad, remove, wire-brush, and reinstall both battery connections. Weak/loose/corroded battery connections commonly cause this exact problem. If that doesn't help, take the battery in and have someone give it a load test which will indicate its true condition.
When you have a choice, buy American.

battery replaced

I got home last night, pulled the battery and had it tested. It was nearly dead. Installed the new battery. Bang! Works fine. Voltage was at 14.5, but I think I might have discovered the problem. I decided to drive the wrangler to work today. I got to work, shut off the vehicle and the radio stayed on. It's never done that. I started it back up and then turned it off. The radio and clock shut off as it should. I'm not sure what caused that. I'll need to keep and eye on that. I'm assuming that's was caused the battery drain.
