New twist on old soft top questions

I have a 05 TJ with a hardtop only. The dimples are still undrilled in the rear of the tub so I don't think a soft top has ever been on it.

I have been considering a Supertop NX as I need all hardware too. I am no longer considering a TrekTop NX because I want to be able to put the top all the way down instead of a Safari top, and I was told taking a Trektop off all the way is a bear to put back on and there is no way to easily store in the Jeep should weather change while out...If am wrong on this, please let me know!

Today I am going to look at a 97 soft top with all hardware, top is bad but, hardware is good. Bestop said the hardware is the same in 97-06 but, fabric is different as there is a sport bar change in the 03-06 models.

So...here is the questions.
1) Is the hardware the same from 97-06? if so...........

2) Am I better with going with a new Supertop NX or going with factory hardware and buying aftermarket sailcloth replace-a-top? New Supertop NX is roughly $650.00, and Replacement top plus hardware can be had for roughly $550.00. ( 450 for soft top, and 100 for hardware...all hardware.
I don't mind spending an extra hundred bucks if I need to because I want to spend right the first time. I also wouldn't mind saving a hundred to buy more Jeep stuff too.

If it matters, my vehicles do not sleep outside unless on a trip, and soft top would only be on from spring to fall.

Thanks,
Ron

Doesn't the super top nx have that bar that goes over the front seats?

Thats good news, I dont like that bar at all, i would rather my top be a little flappier then have that bar get in the way of my Jammock.

Thanks for the input folks.
I decided I have invested enough in this Jeep that I want to do everything the right way.
I ordered a new Supertop NX. Should be delivered by the end of this week. Now just hoping for warm enough weather and sun to be able to install.
