So i plan to get some new wheels and tires for my 03 TJ, the tires will be 33 12.50 either 15's or 16's, not sure just yet, any idea what i would want the wheels to be for the 12.50, should i go with 8's or 10's? also what backspacing? would love to see some pics if possible?
Go with 8 in wide rims and the backspacing around 3.5"-3.75". I would stick to 15x8's because you jump to a 16 rim tires get pricey.
X2 on all that, and I'd avoid the temptation to go any wider than 15x8 if you offroad. 15x10 wheels are ok for a street Jeep running 12.5" wide tires but a 15x8 wheel will hang onto a tire more securely and prevent losing a tire bead more easily when tires are aired down for offroading. It takes less air pressure to keep a tire seated securely on a 15x8 wheel than it does on a 15x10 wheel.

what size lift is on your jeep glock22ed? Also are the Dick Cepek wheels a good wheel choice? trying to get out of the polished wheel business, i hate polishing.. I wanted black chrome however i have yet to find that option in 15X8
Here's a pic new Duratrac 33's on 15x8 AR Baja 19mm/ 3.75 backspacing I have a 03 also .
Looks good glock22ed. Any chance you've got a pic from the front of your jeep? I'm looking at getting the duratracs and I've got american racing rims (AR 136) with the same backspacing as yours. I'd like to see what it looks like from the front.
Good question. I was going to be asking this before long as I have an 01 TJ sport with 33 x 10.5 X 15 BF Goodrich mud-terrain on stock wheels. I will be looking for a set of bead-locks and had the same question of what size wheel for a 12.5 tire. I really like the ballooned sidewall look I see on a lot of them but mine is pretty flat. Thanks for the question 288sunny and thanks for the info thus far guys. Any suggestions on an affordable yet functional bead-lock wheel/tire combo? Mine is a DD that will find some mud on the weekends.
Maybe its time to start turning the wrenches yourself? It certainly saves you the shop prices. But then there's the cost of Beer and first aid supplies......
