Newb; trans oil cooler drip

OK, I'm new to jeeps so ....
This is an 04 TJ w/ Auto Trans.
I got a drip coming from the connection of the cooler line to the cooler tank. It is on the drivers side and it is dripping between the Brass fitting the flex is connected to and the fitting that threads into the cooling tank. I tightened it some and it stopped it while it idled but after a road test the drip returned. (but not as bad) I've searched high and low for any info on this but it's probably so elementary ....
I fear any tighter might strip the threads, is there an 'O' ring between or should it be teflon taped or ??
Any info would help, I don't have a problem doing it, just want to be prepared with what I need when I open the drain, I live way out there...
TIA
Mike

How many miles are on tour jeep? My advice is to do a tranny service at the same time and drain all the ATF out so the line is empty. Then raw the like out and check it. As far as the o-ring I have no idea I've seen it done both ways. If the flange is bad you may have to replace the cooler because I'm pretty sure they are built in. The line itself could be bad if its leaking from the threads I think the end is a tapered fitting. If it was warped it would leak also.

Thanks Fofo,
I've got 93900 miles on it. Seems to be in reasonable shape, a bit more rust under then I remember when I was buying it, but it's ok, it's a jeep. It rides tight and solid. This is the only fluid leak and really only have one 'clunking' noise that stands out. I think it may be a bushing, have'nt gone there yet. (Input is appreciated here too)
I had planned on draining the transmission and replacing the filter but wanted to have any parts to fix the leak there when I do it.

When you get a filter I recommend if your interested it's the perfect time to put in a tranny temp sensor which may save you from burning up a clutch on the trail since most of the time your working it hard an going slow. Also make sure you get the correct filter. Auto parts guys usually try to sell me the wrong one.
