newbie shock question...

was wondering what i need to instal some new rear shocks on a 98 sahara..tools, jack ,etc.??? any tips or advice would be appreciated..

not sure on socket size, but ratchet open ends work well if you have em. really thats all. when you get the shocks from whoever your getting them from tell them if you have a lift and what size if you do have on. different lifts require different shock lengths. you could measure center eye to center eye on a fully closed and fully open shock and that will help them out immensely good luck

Shocks can be changed without jacking up the Jeep or removing the wheels. For the rear, the only thing you really need are several long extensions to reach the two top shock mounting bolts. To save some potential serious grief, since those two particular bolts are known to snap off from corrosion, I would spray both of them with Liquid Wrench, PB-Blaster, or Break-Free for several days ahead of the time you actually plan to swap the shocks.

alright thanks guys .. i sprayed it down with some pb blaster and my brother who is more mechanically inclinded than me is guna help me change them christmas day when he comes up north.. one more question though, i bought some ranch rs5000 rear shocks cause when i bought the jeep it had the rancho rs 5000 shocks and stabolizer in the front and i wanted it to match so i bought them for the rear. my question is will they fit on my jeep , they seem to look a bit bigger but not much bigger than the ones i have in the back now?? thanks for the input
