no 4wd

i ask this before but i only got one answer and it did help much. So i figured ide ask again before tearing down the t-case. Heres teh problem, there is no power going the the front drive shaft. shifter goes all the way to 4 low comfortably ( actually a little easier then usually) and it getts the gear ratio. but there no power to the front wheels. front diff is fine and front driveshaft. any ideas? T-case problems maybe? all start when i removed the front driveshaft for a couple months, and i put it back on and now this.

do you think it can be the shifter linkage that needs adjustment? i would think it now cause its getting into 4low, but really in 2low. Nobody knows of this problem?

if it goes into low gear, it cannot be the linkage. how about 4hi.. do you get the 4wd or what?

referring to this linkage

no 4wd in 4hi. I was hoping it would be something simple cause there a fire tonight and i really want to go play in the mud, its been a while. But I think its leading to t-case problems. The only thing that buggs me is that it was working before i pull the front driveshaft off.

also, the shifter seems very easy to switch into 4hi and 4low. there used to be some resistance when it was working

I'm a square headlights guy, so don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to TJ's, but do you guys have a 4wd motor or something that could have gone bad?

I had a similar issue after I put on a 2" body lift. The shifter wouldn't go all the way down but it was in 2hi. After adjusting the linkage it works great. I would start easy with the linkage. If that dont work, like mentioned above.....hope a tcase guy will chime in. Good luck man.

I don't believe TJ's have the vacuum motor on the front axle. They are just solid. It almost sounds like a broken t-case chain or something in the front end. You need to put it in 4 low with all 4 tires off the ground(jackstands or blocks) and see if your front driveline is spinning. If you do it on the ground the front end will turn and force the driveline to turn so it won't tell you where the problem is.

this wont cause his problems. The problem that you are referring to will not shift to 4lo or 2 hi because the linkage is not adjusted right. You will still have 4hi though. His problem is it does shift to all the gears great however the front end never engages.

Well then your going to have to open up your t-case and see whats up. Probably your chain is broke.
