Did you use the right head gasket? Air in the cooling system?

It's called "burping" the cooling system and the process is heavily described on the internet by using Google. At least on the 4.0L engine, you can burp most of the air out by removing the temp sender next to the thermostat housing while the engine runs but make sure the engine coolant is not hot or you could be scalded.

Did you replace the water pump? There is a big problem with getting the wrong pump - one turns one way with the V belts, the other turns the other way with Serp belts. Parts houses and rebuilders get them mixed up. The difference is the impeller.

I believe BOTH the 4.0 and the 4 banger have the same problem.
Symptoms - very low, if any, flow. Overheats very quickly.
