I'm getting no oil pressure when it's at idle but it kicks up when I give it gas. I changed the oil and changed the oil pressure switch and It changed nothing. Can someone help?!

If after attaching a better gauge, and you still show no pressure. You may have a huge problem. Oil pressure is measured at the cam bearings. Zero at the cam bearings is a real bad thing. Get ready for a rebuild of the engine. If it has not gone on for long you may salvage your engine with a new oil pump, and don't for a High pressure pump. Those are for racing and not driving.

If it turns out to be low pressure, I suggest you drop the pan (pretty easy) buy some "Plasti-Gauge" at the local parts store and check the "Rod & Main" bearing clearance, more than .003 you need to address the problem.

You will most likely see a lot of wear on the bearings. Check for any scoring on the journals. If the journals are good, and you have only partial wear thru the outer layer, a bearing change is in order. You can buy standard main bearing, rods are offered in standard and .001 oversized.

I run a "high volume" pump with great success, I changed out my rod & main bearings at 80,000. With almost 300,000 miles I have 40 psi when I get off the highway at a stop sign and 57 on the highway. I also run 15w/40 Castrol Racing

What ever you do, do not stretch the pressure relief spring to increase pressure. This will only increase the pressure at higher RPM not idle.
