Sorry for the long post. Just bought my Jeep about a month or so ago. Got in the other day and it wouldn't start. I have My battery is good and I get power to my starter relay. I also tested my starter with a multimeter and had no power to it while trying to crank so I was thinking it was my NSS. I did some research and the only thing I can find on the NSS for an 02 is the one under the clutch pedal. I bypassed it with a paper clip and still nothing. I also put a 20 fuse in slot 20 in the glove fuse box. While doing all this I found a connecter right by my Crankshaft position sensor that isn't connected to anything. Any ideas?

If manual will it bump start?

If not if you jump plus 12 to small terminal on starter solenoid attached to starter will it crank and if it does does cranking with jumper wire and key in on position make it start?

Is so most likely broken actuator pin in key switch which is a cheep and easy fix.

I'm no electrical expert, but if your getting power to the relay, but not to the starter wouldn't you either have a bad relay that isn't sending power out, or a break it the wire between the relay and the starter? Also I may frequent this site way more than I should and TJ owners seem to have issues with the ignition switch itself. Not the keyed area but a switch under the dash I believe. Someone with a TJ will be able to help you more. But search ignition switch symptoms too.

Edit see; digger is talking about what I was thinking.

It will bump start. I've been crossing the starter with a screwdriver to start it the past few days. The relay clicks when I crank it and I swapped relays so I know that's good. I'll take a look at the ignition switch and its components tomorrow. That connecter I posted a picture has wires running to the starter so I figure that might be the issue. Thanks for the advice.

Tcadams: from experience, I'd check the ignition actuator, and the ignition switch in that order. I've had to replace my actuator once, and switch twice.

If the actuator is broken it's an easy fix. If the actuator is intact, then replace the switch. Both are inside the steering column. There is a write up on this forum or Jeep Forum, I forget which. Also, YouTube is your friend.
