Dont you love hearing new noises that dont sound good driving your jeep. Well i have one that i cant figure out its when i am turning. usually when i am starting off and then make a turn it happen it sound like something is binding or something. i thought it was my swaybar moving side to side in the bushing but that wasn't it. i was thinking it is my rear end going out. I have a 4 in lift on it with 33's so it could be from the rear end but idk it could also be from a Suspension part. If you have anything it possibly could be or if you had maybe something like this and what you did would be great.
well im new here 2. im havin the same problem. mines an 06 x with 25,000 miles. ive allready changed the u-joints on both ends of the rear shaft & that didnt fix it. any ideas would be a great help! thanx!
Yea see i think mine might be a little different then yours. it will happen right when i hope in and go down the block and make that first turn. sometimes its not as bad then sometimes it sound horible. Ive ben trying everything tighnen up all my bolts to everything checked th brakes and the axles for end play and i have no idea what it could be.
took cover off. wear pattern looks ok. no peices of metal either. everything looks ok to me. i dont understand how the limited slip works. doesnt look like my z71 truck. can someone explain how it works? thanx!
i got mine back together this afternoon. im starting to wonder if they didnt put the friction additive in it from the factory. im gonna drive it tomorrow & see if anything changes. how many miles on yours jeepster? have you ever changed the rear end lube?
mines a 99 with around 115k. one of my seals were leaking about a year ago or less and i got that fixed and changed the lube. but ive been thinking about opening it up and taking a look inside and changing it just to check it out because idk what else it could really be.
Check carrier bearing, mine started to make a noise, thought it was axel bearing but found out it was carrier bearing. had to replace whole thing carrier and all. Went ahead and regeared from factory 3.07 to 4.56!!
I just put a 2" BB kit on mine and noticed the rear axle is not centered and when I'm wheeling I hear a poping noise from the rear. Not sure if it's the control arms rubbing or if it's stress on the U-joint. Is this similar to the noise you have? If so let me know what you diagnose on yours.
