Noise not sure where from trans?

I have a whine (even when my wife isn't in the jeep) in any gear, notice it most in 5th goes away when I am on throttle, and comes back when I am off. 98 wrangler, recently bought off ebay hoping I am not stuck with bad goods. I got a gal of MT90 to stick in it tomorrow to see if that helps, any suggestions?

That's funny!!! Reminds me of a coworker who was having a dinner party and someone asked what his wife's favorite wine was . . . he replies "why don't you take me any where any more"!!! Sorry . . . no advice as to the Jeep issue.

Bite the hand that feeds you . . . you've had more than enough to eat already.

I have an issue similar to yours...

There isn't any noise when I first start my Jeep. However, when I drive it for a bit it starts to pick up this high pitched screaming noise. It goes away as soon as I give it gas but as soon as I let off the throttle, the noise comes back. I've replaced the steering pump, idler pulley, alternator.... its not the a/c..... any suggestions?

if the noise goes away when you push in the clutch or let off the gas alot of times it is a rear axle issue.
