O2 Sensor ?

Would a bad o2 sensor (code p0138) cause my engine to misfire (Code p0303)? A couple of weeks ago, my engine spat out p0138, so I am going to replace the downstream o2 sensor this weekend, but now it started idling a little rough and it just spat out code p0303 last night. I'm just wondering if I am looking at two different issues, or if the faulty o2 sensor could cause a misfire? any input is always appreciated!

A bad 02 sensor can cause the engine to run too rich or give a false indication of a bad catalytic converter but how it could cause a misfire would be a mystery to me.
