Oh crap question involving doors.

2001 Jeep Wrangler.

I was trying to take the doors off my Wrangler, well I can get the doors off but the nuts that are supposed to come off of the pin that holds the door in have broken off. They did not loosen they just broke off, leaving no way to reattach the nuts to the pins on the doors.

Do the pins come out of the doors? Can I replace these pins or am I screwed? I looked on a Jeep parts web site but didn't see any pins to replace the ones that are broken now. BTW full doors from the factory no mods to the doors etc.

Hope I explained it well enough, if not let me know and I will try to explain better.

Thanks for the help.

Yup, you explained it fine. I snapped two off mine when I first got my jeep and had a stroke. Then I hacksawed the other two off and they've been that way for four or five years. No issues. It's not a big deal.

(I really contemplated posting - OMG you did what? You're so SCREWED. - But I didn't )

Thanks for the help. I kind of had the same thinking in mind. I don't think anybody is going to steal my doors. So I will take the other two off the passenger side tomorrow. And the pin is still long enough to go through the hinge.

Thanks TT for not posting the "Your screwed" even though it would have been funny once I got myself back in the computer chair and off the floor.

Funny you say that. When they broke into my Jeep back a couple years ago the police said we were lucky they didn't steal the doors!! Since then I put some hinge locks on mine just to be safe but have not put the nuts on in a couple years now.

I cut mine off with a dremel. Just have the pin that fits exactly with the hinge.
