Autolite AP985 or Champion 3034 platinum plugs would be great choices for your '98, either will perform well for 100k miles. For other readers, those would be the wrong plugs for 2003 and newer 4.0l engines. Autolite's iridium tipped XP985 will last out towards 200k miles any model year 4.0l TJ engine.

Stick with Mopar OE replacement ignition wires, most wires sold in automotive parts stores are junk that cause problems... especially the so-called "performance" wiring sets that really do nothing for performance despite the hype.

Dumb question but can i expect any boost in power with aftermarket plugs and new spark plug wires? I know there is only so much you can get out of these 4.0L.

The only time new spark plugs or wiring can improve performance is when the old plugs or wiring have problems like being worn out.

Thanks to Mr Bransford and all his postings I ordered my XP985s today. $31.95 on the auction site with free shipping.

About to hit 70k miles on my 2003 4.0 and my idle is getting a little rough.
