oil filter leak, no 90 filter adapter

Hey guys, im trying to figure out if i have the oil filter adapter that is prones to leaks.

I have an 97 wrangler sport 4.0l that has the wet oil filter with oil around it. I searched and found the oild filter o rings that fix the issue, but they all mention the 90 degree adapter, mine looks like a straight adapter, but it still leaks.

Do i use the same o ring adapter kit to fix this?

Any info would be great!!

Has this always happened with previous oil filters?

Not sure, it's just dripping down the side of the filter. The whole area is
wet!

Seems like the gasket on the filter would be enough. Recheck the filter application when you change it and don't over tighten. Good luck.

I tighten my oil filters as tight as I can by hand and no more. Never had a leak.

there is no way to tell where the oil is coming from with how dirty that motor is. get a can of gunk engine brite and hose that whole area down, might have to repeat a few times, until its clean then take it out for a drive then look at it again and it will help you find where its actually coming from.
