oil gage woes

I just got this 97 Wrangler. The oil gage shows 0 when I stop at stops signs. It goes up to 40 when I'm driving. What could be the problem? Is it as simple as a oil sending unit?

It's hard to say what the problem is without being there. But if it was mine...........

I would go down to your local parts store and purchase a mechanical oil pressure gauge and install it to verify what the electric gauge is indicating. If it indicates 0 at idle, then you may have other issues........

I never figured out that problem, I noticed mine did that after I changed the oil but it went away after a day.
