oil pan?

ok I have 97 TJ 4.0 I need to pull the oil pan I was wondering if there was anything keep my from just unbolting the oil pan and pulling it off. Like on chevys you cant just pull the pan down and off.

you have to loosen the exhaust to get the by it one guy pulling on the loose exhaust and the other work the pan out. take it apart at the connection near the firewall than drop the pan. this is much eaiser on a lift

i've never had the exhaust in the way, maybe its a tj thing. but the 4.0's i've done the exhaust isn't in the way.

the steering linkage prevents it from coming all the way down though, drop the drag link out of the pitman arm, and the pan falls right out.

yeah, it's a TJ thing. They actually ran the exhaust where it's out of the way. Just now it's in the way of the pan.
