Oil pressure drop

My oil pressure just started dropping today when i have her at idle. The needle used to always stay pretty vertical unless i got on it then it would go up a little. Now the moment it drops to idle the pressure drops from vertical to half of that. The moment I step on the gas slightly the oil pressure goes right back to normal. I am not overheating either if i let it idle for extended time, tried that. Maybe just over-paranoid, but i dont like things that suddenly change for no reason, or at least an unknown reason. Is this normal or a sign of something bad to come? Thanks!

Its a wacky Oil Pressure Sending Unit. They are a common issue. CHeck to see if its loose and the plug is secure. Its located down by the oil filter. Its a long and skinny thing with 2 wires coming off of it. If its not loose and the connection is secure, I'd buy a new one. They cost like $7 from NAPA.

Those cheap orange oil filters will do that too.

One of my 2.5L 97's does it every once in a while, got a plug/socket thing going on, hit a bump and it's back, wiggle the plug and it comes and goes. Been well behaved since it warmed up here in the NE, gave a heart failure a couple of times though.

I thought it was normal for it to do that.
I'm not gonna go over that......

ive had oil sending units go out on other vehicles, they just never did this before, it is probably just the connection which i will check tonight, thanks for the help. As for the cheap orange filter, i only use the best oil and filter on my girl
