Oil Pressure Gauge Question

Today I was driving my Jeep pretty hard because I was going late to a meeting so I was gearing down and up a lot like if I was driving my prelude and suddenly I saw the oil pressure cluster and was all the way up.
I know that tj gauges are kind of funny but it is a bad sign??
This was in the morning and I just left the gas pedal along and the oil pressure move back to normal. no more high pressure after that. any clue about that??
Also the check gauge light never did that beep noise and never turned on.
I'm confused.

Thanks.

There have been a few times I have had to drive my 98 Sahara like a sports car and yea the oil pressure can go up pretty high but the stock gauges are really slow to react. You might have had the pressure up that high if you were shifting hard (up around 4 or 5K) but i wouldnt worry about it. I had to do a lab on my jeep and the gauge was still reading 60psi when the actual was already down to 20psi. The stock gauges are just slow to react. If it stays up there then start worrying!

You need to worry when it's very low and the alarm sounds....or you start to hear loud knocking noises....
Check the wiring on your oil sensor. The sensor itself may also be experiencing issues.

Sometimes with mine, when I drive to Phoenix, the pressure gauge takes a while to adjust to the altitude change... the only issue with running a high pressure for too long is the rist of spinning a rod bearing or something else vital.
