Oil Pressure High???

I just got a 1999 TJ automatic. I noticed today that the oil pressure goes to 80psi when I'm starting off, then settles back to 60psi after I'm in 3rd and it's warmed up. Is this normal? Sure seems like a high PSI....????

your sensor might be wacky, 80psi is too high

Mine was doing that for a while then just stopped acting funny. all is well now. 60 in 3rd is fine.

I have owned 2 CJs and a TJ and they all have done the same thing. My TJ's oil pressure is usually at about 60 when running and when I'm at a idle the pressure drops to around 40. I just figure it is one of those mysterious jeep things you learn to accept since they are never burning oil or losing any.
