Oil pressure question???

Normally the oil pressure on my 2000 Wrangler Sahara (83,000 miles) is steady at 40 psi. Lately, it has been dropping to as low as 20 psi and staying there (after 5-10 minutes of warm-up). I routinely change the oil every 3,000 miles. The oil level is good.

What is the normal oil pressure range?

My friend suggests a problem with my bearings??? That sounds expensive.

Any insight, advice, information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Get someone to hook it up to a manual gauge and see if it's REALLY running that low...our Jeeps are notorious for having the oil pressure sending units go out.

10lbs of PSI is needed for every 1K Rpms
put a mechanical gauge on it and test it before digging in the motor.

If you get in and drive does the pressure go up or stay low?
