Oil pressure sensor

I know problems with the oil pressure sensors have been covered thoroughly and I've read quite a few of them but I have a question for you all.
First the basics, it's a 1998 4.0. Previously I had been having an issue with my oil pressure gauge fluctuating so doing some research I found out that changing the pressure sensor was an easy fix. I changed it and it was good for about 8 months and now the problem was back. Today I picked up oil, a filter, and a sensor. Once everything was changed I started up the jeep and the gauge read zero with a check gauge light on. Checked the connection and tried again, same problem. Changed back to the old sensor which was giving a reading but was fluctuating and now it also says zero with the same check light. Removed the sensor and cranked engine to verify there was oil pressure and of course there was. I know the engine is full of fresh oil so I'm kind of stumped as to why it now shows zero for pressure on both sensors. Any ideas?

If your oil sending unit was from an auto parts store they are known to be crap from china. Buy one from the dealer and see if that fixes your problem. I will only buy electrical parts from the dealer because more and more cheap parts are from china.

Well being optimistic and saying the sensor is the only problem is it bad to drive with the light on for the time being? Meaning it won't trip a code or anything that would shut the engine down?

Stop wasting time & go get an oil pressure sensor from the dealer. Sensors from places like Autozone are typically crap quality & not worth installing. I ended up installing three oil pressure sensors from Autozone into my son's Grand Cherokee one day before I finally got one that worked/indicated properly.
When you have a choice, buy American.
