oil pump drive, HELP!

So I heard a ticking while driving (also idle). traced it to the oil pump drive. So stupid me, I pulled it out to inspect it and didn't mark how it goes back, I didn't know it was one of those timing parts. Anyways, it looked fine so I put it back and tightened up the hold down bracket. Now a jeep that was running perfectly fine, other than a ticking noise, won't even start up.

Anybody know how to go about lining this thing up right so I can at least putter it down the road to a mechanic? Anything to help would be awesome right now.

You need to put your number one pistion to top dead center and then put a pin in your opda, then install and remove pin. Im thinking you might need a manual for a ref material.

Here is a link to a pdf manual you can download.

Choose your model year and click. You can then find instructions for replacing OPDA. I replaced my son's OPDA in his 2000 following these instructions. Plus a lot of other useful info.

Well I appreciate the help. I got lucky and got it set up right though, but It is still ticking and I will probably replace it at some point anyway. So I will still need the info you guys gave me.

So my fix, and hopefully this is correct. I remembered I had taken a picture of the area earlier so I used that to line it up. Unfortunately still no worky. Pulled it out again and shined a flashlight in there till i could see the slot it slides into (I literally changed the oil a few days ago so I could still see through it, this most likely wouldn't work with old oil). Anyways I tried turning the shaft 180 so it would still line up on that slot. Put it back in and lined it up to match the picture again. She fired right up. Purrs like a kitten except for that weird shutter at idle (feels like it's misfiring). I was getting that before this little episode of bad mechanicing though. Maybe that misfire is a bad injector or spark plug, I need to replace the plugs anyway.
