oil pump drive seizing!!

2006 Wrangler, 22,500 miles.

Started it yesterday and got a terrible squeal which resided after 5 min. This morning started it up same thing. On the way home from work it started squealing/howling intermittently.

Come to find out after research that my distributor/oil drive gear is toast or needs to be replaced.

Anyone have any experience with this? My warranty is expired and I just bought it used in Novemeber! Called Jeep who recommended having a dealer look at it and see if manufacturer defect is the cause. TSB's in the past for 2005 models for this problem but not for mine.

Heard after install a scanner is needed for the sync. I have mechanically knowledge but need advice. Please help.

This part houses the camshaft sensor and squeals like a pig. Someone was saying that the bushing becomes oblong and makes a horrible noise. However, no oil is able to move. I really hope I did not screw my motor by driving 50 miles today. The sound was for 5 min in the morning and intermittenly on the way home.

It needs to be replaced.

Jeep will not help me. They denied my case even thought they recalled 16,000 wranglers. Mine slipped through. My factory warranty is expired.

Anyone ever have this oil drive pump replaced?
Anyone do it on their own?
I plan on letting the dealer do it bc they say a special timing procedure needs to be done.
