OME shock question

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question but here goes..

Just got my 4 OME shocks delivered last night, they came with a metal rod around them which I believe is just to keep them compressed until use, I need to remove these metal retainers before installing them correct?

You are correct. That is just to keep the shock compressed and yes you will remove it when you install the shock.
