Overdrive Problem

Every once and a while my 05 Wrangler Unlimited with auto transmission will decide to drop into overdrive at really low speeds. We are talking like 30 mph. The OD off switch does nothing to fix it and I really have to stomp on the gas to get it to kick out only for it to drop back in. Normally OD would kick in at 45 mph. But with it doing this I can hardly get up some hills because it doesn't want to kick out. The only fix I have found is to stop, put it in park, shut my jeep off completely and restart it. This usually corrects the problem until I park it and shut it off. It does it intermittently, this is the first time in about 6 months I've had it happen but it's annoying as hell. I've read that removing corrosion/removing battery cables to reset computer helps. Currently mine are somewhat corroded I am going to try cleaning them but I was wondering if anyone had a definite answer on the cause. Thanks.

This is not typical behavior. Mine never does that.

There definitely is a problem, either programming (perhaps fixable by the unhook-the-battery technique) or other type.

If the fluid hasn't been changed in a long while, I'd start with changing it and the filter.

If these efforts fail, it may take a transmission guy to get it corrected.
