Passenger brake light

My passenger brake light is dim when brake is applied driver side brake light gets brighter, I have trailer pig tails I'm thinking that might have a short In it.
I am not electrically inclined maybe some one knows or had a similar issue they could give some input before I rip these wires out

Thanx in advance

Could be just a bad ground. If you have a test lead or just a piece of wire, attach one end to the lamp holder base and the other to a good bare metal ground then try 'em
