Passenger seat not sliding.

Passenger seat not sliding fwd to let people in the back. I can still recline and adjust the seat position, but now people have to climb over the seat to get in the back. I checked out under the seat and saw a frayed wire. Does this cost much to fix, and can I, being the unexperienced, but intrigued jeeper that I am, fix it myself? Thank you for your thoughts

Kay

There should be a lever on the side of the back of the seat. Lift up on the lever and push the seat forward from the top.(not the base) The whole seat should pivot forward.

I don't know what year your Jeep is but I have a 2001 and the same thing happened to mine. I have the pull tabs in the upper part of the side of the seat like where the lever is on the newer models. That cable broke in mine. The seat would still lea forward and recline back but would not slide forward enough to gain access without hangin your junk on the seat. Anyway the cable was around 70 bucks at the stealership. But make sure you take the old one out so they can get you the right one because there are several in seat cables. I had to go back twice for mine. You have to take the seat out to do it because it runs across the underside of the bottom seat and then attaches in the top of the bootom seat on the same side as the pull lever/tab. Hope this helps!

I have an 02. Mine will slide, and recline, but not lean forward/tilt. But thank you, I'll check that out.

I guess it's a good thing that I'm a chick then, so I don't hit my junk...lol
