Angry Passenger side door handle

Looking for some advice here.

06 TJ. Passenger door handle won't stay seated. It's just annoying right now as it sticks out (see pic) but I'm afraid of it grabbing somthing on the trail and doing more damage. Plus, it squeaks when you close the door.

I've already pulled the inner door panel off and there is no access to it. It appears to have spring steel clips to hold it in and the bottom ones are loose/sprung.

First owner had his GPS and stereo stolen. It's possible they got in via the passenger door.

I've tried the cheap/loserish idea of glue (super and gorilla) and it's not working for more than a couple of good door pulls.

Here's the pic:

There is access to it with the panel off.It is a tight place to work with but it is there. The handle has two steel saw tooth wedges that hold the it in place and what happens is the lip on the handle gets bent a little and allows it to pull out some. You have to roll the window down and shine a light in there to see them but they have to be knocked out to pull the handle so you can bent the lips back to shape and put it back together.

Jeez, I had the window up thinking that it would be out of the way...

Thanks, I'll go do some re-work.

hm

I see the tabs you are talking about from the top thru the window track. Do the pins need to be pulled or will those pop out by themselves?

Is it nearly as hard reassembling as it looks like? I don't have midget hands...

This is what it looks like from inside and below...the tabs aren't holding the handle now. Are these that need to be adjusted?

Got it

Nevermind.

I got it. I did discover just what a chincy a$$ system these door handles are tho...Not how I would have done it anyway, but I don't work in the automotive industry, so...

Thanks!

Sorry I didn't get back to ya!! Did you get it fixed? On both sides of the handle in the pic you see the two wedge shaped metal pieces ??They have to be knocked down until they drop out inside the door that will release the handles and yes the handles are a made of pretty flimsy metal. The handle should have been as thick as the wedge were the wedge go into for it to hold up better.
