pinion seal d30 front and d44 rear

it this right???? i have d30 front and d44 rear. it has brought to my attention that d44 does not have a crush. how tight do i tighten it... how do i tighten the d30 front???

You just want to know how much torque is on it already. Odds are it's the factory seal. Mine started slowly getting wet around around 165k miles.

Pull the shaft.
Put a pipe wrench around the yoke so it pushes against the ground (guessing you don't have a lift).
Breaker Bar / Impact the pinion nut off.
Pull seal.
Install new seal.
Re-position pipe wrench on other side.
Tighten to about 165ish ft / lbs.
Re-install shaft.

The reason I added in all that in / lbs is you don't want to over tighten the yoke nut. If you do that, you run the chance of damaging something inside and the front wheels become harder to free-roll. If you don't have the correct stuff, just tighten it to 160 and call it a day.

When we did my D30, we torqued the bastard down to 200ish ft/lbs and it was harder to turn pre-process. We got all worried that the sleeve was garbage, pulled everything only to find I didn't have one. We just loosened it and re-torqued to 160ish
