play in PSC steering box...Normal?

I just finished installing the SECOND PSC refurbished factory steering box in my 98 and have still have 1" of play in the steering wheel before the pitman arm starts to move. This was the exact same issue I had with the first PSC box in which they did send me a replacement.

Is this normal? I would of expected the steering to be tight or at least tighter then this. This was the reason I replaced my factory box in the first place. I am positive it is the steering box as I had someone turn the wheel back and forth and the pitman arm doesnt move at all until the slop is taken up then everything works fine....

Take a look at things again. Hold on to the lowest section of the steering shaft and have someone turn the wheel. Watch the shaft and look at the mid u-joint. My guess is you have play in one of the u-joints in the steering column.

We actually can turn the shaft from under the jeep and the shaft turns but the pitman arm doesnt until the slop passes. Basically the input shaft turns on the input shaft of the steering box but the pitman arm isnt moving until the "play" is taken up....
