POP! Lost rear wheel power.

Wife in 03-TJ heard POP. No power to rear axle. Front still pulls. Checked drive shaft and u-joints all ok. Rear axle does not turn. Any ideas? Just got Jeep last Summer.

On my mustang I broke the output shaft on the trans try jacking it up and spin the drive shafts and see what it does

2003 Excursion 4x4 Short Bus
1984 Dodge 250 4x4 4 Inch lift 36's
1994 STX Ranger 4x4 6 Inch lift 33's or 35's
1998 TJ 3.5 Inch lift 33's or 35's

Open your differiential covers see if there are any metal shavings in the oil. If there teeth broken off the gears. That's it

I meant, the rear diff cover, you'll need the right size socket, gasket seal, and diff fluid, and then a gasket scraper (can be made out of a razor blade and plie grips)..

If there's still a warranty take it back to the dealer you got it from. Sounds like you snapped a rear axle.

put the jeep in neutral, block the front wheels. Try turning the rear driveshaft by hand if it rotates with the tires on the ground you blew up the carrier. I suggest ARB Might as well do a gear change too for the future. 4.88's
