Pops out of low

Ive read this thread title quite a few times and now its happening to me.I adjusted the little bolt on the linkage and now its all the way at the end of the rod and it still pops out.It wouldnt even go into low before so its better but wont stay.Could the linkage be bent from pushing or pulling hard enough to effect it or some thing else I figure Id ask here before I take it in.Thanks

Jerry you had to of bent the linkage somewhere. IF it just started happening and you didn't touch the truck it is something right there in the linkage. Check for a bend in the linkage.

If you haven't gotten more out of the insurance company than you deserve, then you haven't screwed them nearly as much as they have been screwing you for the past xx years.

make sure everything is tight. and you still have the spacers on the brackets. sounds like its popping out because your not getting it all the way in gear first. mine wouldnt go into low at all. got under there and was missing spacers and that was causing my problem. lucky for me a guy here in town stopped me to talk about a local club and i asked him about it and he had one laying at his house in great shape. look at picture for the spacers.

I noticed when I was down there the arm on the linkage looked like it had a 1/4 or 3/8 where it could have had a spacer and the linkage arm is grooving the corner of a bolt in the case but nothing looks bent. The place it was is on the shaft behind the lower arrow on the other side of the two little bolts. Is there a spacer there ? what kind or material .maby Ill pop that off and throw one in there pushing the linkage to the frame rail side and see if that helps. Thanks

Every things tight nothing looks bent but you can slide the linkage side to side about 1/2".Ive been crawling under jeeps all over town and they all seem slitely different. The guy at the garage said its probably a worn gear but its only got 44,ooo and about 2 miles of it are in low gear. Its like it just needs a little more to lock in.

You can see pretty good in the second pic, am I missing any thing or any thing look funky besides the linkage arm hitting the bolt next to it and cutting a groove.( first pic )

Jerry try this--

Take the linkage out of the bracket and then manually with a pair of pliers move it to 4 low and then move the jeep and see if it is working. Then if it is put the lever in the cab to 4 lo and then jump back under the jeep and see were the linkage needs to be. This is much easier with 2 people. One working the actual handle as your under it. Hope this helps.

Yeah I will work on that some more, its a pain I cant see what I'm moving.I was thinking I did that but I think all I did was move it to the end of the rod. What gets me is how close it is to the trans. seems like some thing may be missing.Pretty sure its not suppose to be making its own grooves.
