possible iac valve problem?

I have a 2005 Wrangler Unlimited. The problem started off with the engine randomly reving up while at a stop sign or stop light. From there it went to that and not restarting until it cooled down a little bit. Now it will run, but not idle, I have to keep pumping the gas to keep it running and I lost all power. I've replaced the fuel pump and most sensors, including the crankshaft position sensor yesterday, and still nothing. Could it be the idle air control valve? I'm losing patience fast.

Try looking at all the vacuum lines. When one of my vacuum lines came off it would idle really high and jump around. When I fixed the vacuum hose it ran even worse. I then had to disconnect the battery and touch the positive and negative terminals to zero out. I also used throttle body cleaner. I'm not saying this will definitely fix it but that worked for me.

It's not a vacuum line, I've checked all of them. Every bit of research I've done on it suggests either iac valve or egr valve. I dunno where to start, but I do know I'm about to put a for sale sign on it if something doesn't give.

All I'm saying is I had the same problem and what caused it. All I tried to do was give you a heads up for what worked for me. But you did all that research, so you got it.

I am new to this forum and need help. I was cleaning my throttle body. I attempted to remove the IAC and one of the screws broke off. Well in trying to remove the broken screw the aluminum housing broke. Any body have a part number for the housing I can search for now that I am in the market for a new one. Thanks

Not sure, but you might need to get a whole new throttle body. However, I'm sure someone else will chime in with some good info. My other thought was you could try looking in a junkyard.

Thanks for the ideas. The housing is connected with screws to the TB. I am hoping it is a stand alone part.

Well, this is regarding the IAC housing. It is NOT a stand alone part available from Mopar. So I took the suggestion of visiting the local Pick & Pull. Sure enough, since the 4.0 was around for a while there was an adequate selection of IAC housing and they even threw in the entire TB, sensors and all. $25.00
