I put on my new diff covers a few weeks ago 9 days exactly....There the solid diff covers.....well went on the first off road adventure nothing hard just some weird angles...since the install....well the rear has started to seap some oil out of it....i can see it running down the face of the cover but it seems to stop around the ledge of the fill plug area...the plug is tight i double checked it today....should i worry about it or is it because i over filled it and some will seap out......its a costly mistake if i run outta fluid and i cant really afford the error.
its a pain to pull all the way off because of the upper bolts and the rear trackbar/gas tank in the way.
any advice....is there a vent hose up there some where i didnt see anything coming off the axle....is there a vent hole without a hose???
When you put the covers on did you put soemthing on like locktite or rvt or whatever that stuff is or did you just reuse the stock gasket or what? On mine when i installed my bl there was a hose thats called a diff vent hose that went along with the fuel fill hose.. If you remove the rear driver tire wheelwell plastic there you should be able to see it ziptied to the fuel hose. There is also one in the front thats mounted on the drivers side of the radiator. The pipe it self is rubber pipe with a clear to white color cap on top of it.
First off. Did you fill al the way up to the HIGH fill point? If you did fill all the way to the fill plug, you have WAY to much fluid in there and most likely its getting hot and expanding then coming out the vent tube. Also, there was a problem with some of the Rockcrusher (same Company) covers being porus. The casting was bad and the oil would actually seep out of the cover.

I changed the diff fluid in mine the other day and it seemed like the amount of fluid it called for was way too much. I had to jack up the rear end to finish filling it up, and I just used what it said on the diff cover. I think it was 64 oz oil and 4 oz additive.
thanks for the help....i'm headed to vegas tomorrow so i will look into it when i get back....i would have to say its coming out the fill hole around the screw in plug....i am gonna pull it off later and try the teflon tape idea....i did fill it to the plug because my owners manual never said how many quarts to use....
so i traced it back to the vent tube just a minute ago when a buddy of mine said i had a fuel leak....turns out the drivers side of my gas tank and gas tank skid have diff fluid all over them and it is running down the hose too and dripping off the axle......is it ok to leave it like that knowing it will fix its own problem over time or should i pull it all back off and refill it....I'm lazy so the idea containing work sucks.
