Post Possible to shorten lift?

Hello all! Though I have lurked here for some time now in anticipation of owning a jeep and have really enjoyed reading many of the threads, this is my first post! So I have a question...I am looking at a 2004 Rubicon with a Fabtech 6" long-arm suspension lift and 35" tires. I know 6" of lift is excessive for 35" tires. Plus this vehicle would be my daily driver, so there are some stability issues there as well. I would much rather have a 4" lift. Is reducing the lift as easy as replacing the springs with some that provide the desired height, or is there more to it than that? Thank you!

You would need a new lift. I'd say rear track bar bracket, sway bar linkages, control arms, springs, shocks, bump stops and a t case lowering kit if you don't have an SYE. But you could look to trade lifts on a local forum or craigslist.

Edit never mind t case kit I think Rubicons come with SYE.

Contact fabtech and ask one of their tech people what is required to downsize. I have a full traction 6" kit and I know they also sell a 4" setup so I'm sure fabtech is similar.

If the control arms and track bars are adjustable you should be able to get some 4" springs and maybe new shocks and swap them out.

If it is set up right, I wouldn't screw with it. Not that much of a difference in height for the price...

I sent Fabtech the details of the Jeep as well as what I was looking to do. Their tech manager got back with me this morning with the following:

"There is no way to do that without spending a ton of money, this kit was built specifically for 6 inches. I am sure professional fabricators can do almost anything if you pay them enough, but honestly I would buy another jeep. I do not know anyone that has ever attempted doing this, I would not for sure if it was me."

I think I will take his advice and just keep shopping.
