Power problem

Okay, here's the problem. My jeep just does while driving. Like 100% no power or anything at all. Then 10 minutes later it starts back up and drives for about 10 minutes until it dies again. So I replaced the battery and made sure the connectors to the battery aren't corroded. Sometimes the lights will turn on but when I go to start it now, everything shuts off again. What is wrong and what do I need to do?

This almost sounds like the faulty ignition switch Chevy just recalled. In Jeeps It would shut down everything accept the headlights if that failed as they don't go through the ignition. Not sure just a thought.

Have you made sure all your grounds are clean and free of corrosion?

I am trying to replace the braided grounding strap in the back that is connected to the engine block, but I'm having trouble reaching the bolt and getting it off. And do I need to connect that to the firewall or the good of the car?

It sounds to me like you are having electrical problems, and they aren't that easy to diagnose. Plus, you haven't given the year of your Jeep. So, your Jeep could be anything from a YJ, CJ, TJ, JK. I would start every question by: Hi, My Jeep is a 2001 TJ Sport with 2.5L manual Transmission. My problem is.....

Different year Jeeps can have different recalls and different problems. There is a self diagnosis that a Wrangler can perform, but without the Year of your Wrangler, its impossible to know which one would work for you.

The fact that it dies leads me to fuse box/buss area. If it was a battery cable you'd think it just wouldn't start or charge. I have a '97 2.5 auto if you need me to check something on it.

I just cleaned the ground strap in the back of the engine block and it fired right up. I jus need to change it and it should be fine.
