Unhappy Power steering??

Hey everyone, quick question.

I was out wheelin' with my buddy, me in my jeep, him in his. I was messing around in some dry dirt, doing donuts and what-not, when all of a sudden, power steering just died. Buddy ended up getting stuck, we were able to get him out, then I concentrated on mine.

No leaks, squeeling or grinding noises, nothing. Just really hard to turn when at low speeds. How should I troubleshoot this matter?

Starting super simple, Belt is still on right? The belt slipped of my mom's CJ7 and shw drove it to work and back like that. How is the power steering fluid level and color? It is possible the pump just gave up, although it doesn't happen that often. My friend with a 2012 JK blew his power steering pump doing light trails and going slow. Weird things happen...

I made sure everything was fine. It was. I put some new fluid in and it seems to work fine now, just a little tight.

I don't know what else to do.

I don't know about TJ pumps, but I know that some power steering pumps will give up the ghost if you hold them at full lock whilst doing spinning circular stuff. Subaru pumps don't cotton to prolonged full lock at all.

What's your theory on how a "popped" vacuum line would affect the power steering?

Maybe the loose end of the line wound up in the reservoir and sucked all the p/s fluid out!!!
