My 1997 Sport Wrangler has trouble with the power steering. Driving it and turning the wheel becomes a seriously workout. It works but it very difficult to turn. On the bright side, I got an arm and back workout for the week.
I inherited the car from father a year a half ago, and it has been sitting in the same spot since. I've already replaced the alternator and serpentine belt to get it running. Now it runs, but it is difficult to turn the steering wheel. When I cleaned out the car, I found several bottles of power steering fluid, so it was obviously a problem before we stopped using it. I poured a whole bottle of the fluid into the steering fluid container (which i think was empty), but it did not seem to help or get any better as I rode the car around.
Does anyone know what the issue could be or how I should start looking for the issue?
