power steering pump

When you lift a jeep are you supposed to change the power steering?
i have 33's and whenever i try to turn my wheels while stationary my steering makes a whining noise unless i start to roll slightly then it goes away.
And accompanied by the whinning noise the steering wheel is also harder to turn.
Im about to upgrade to 12.50 wide 33's and i figured it would only make everything worse.

No need to upgrade power steering for 33's, but guess it could also depend on the year of the Jeep as well. Typically no need to until running 37's or bigger.

Do you have any leaks on the lines to the PS unit/pump??? check lines for any moisture near the fittings.

You can try goin thru this check to see if it helps.

sounds like your p/s belt may be loose. try tightening it and go from there.

Read that article, is it necesary to jack it up in order to rid the air from the system?

I believe so, makes it easier to cycle steering.

When was the last time you greased the zerks on your Ball Joints.... if they are dry or not taking grease could be part of the issue where it feels like it's binding.

Could be low fluid or air in the hoses

Bigger than stock tires will wear things out faster due to the extra stress being put on the remaining stock parts. It's just a fact of modifying your jeep.
