Pre cat flange stud loose & o2 replace

2002 TJ 4.0L Hello all, I decided to replace my O2 sensors (both pre cat) yesterday because they haven't been changed in a real long time I'm sure and I have noticed a slight dip in gas mileage. When I went to install the sensors the rear O2 came out easily but the front has yet to come out, letting it soak in PB blaster for a few days.. Well while I was under there I noticed that the flange studs that hold together the precats were very loose, but I never had any codes come up on my CEL except for a large emission leak code that I got like a year ago and randomly went away, maybe this was the cause..? Regardless the studs were loose so I tightened them all and managed to get the rear o2 installed. Well when I started it up, I don't have any CEL or difference in performance but I can hear a new noise under the hood now. Almost like a puttering noise and it seems to be coming from where I tightened the studs. Has anyone else had this issue or know why I might have a noise now that I tightened the studs but before I tightened them I had no noise? Thanks
